Introduction to Lynden City Parks

A steady increase in Lynden's population and the pockets of available land eligible for green space are two main reasons that the Lynden City Parks Committee gathers regularly. We believe that further development of parks and trails in any community serves a variety of needs. However, your input is helpful as you bring to the forefront the wishes of our community through sharing ideas and responses to proposed parks and trails.

For each proposed park we will include a summary of the park plan or the discussion that has surrounded potential park or trail ideas.

  1. Hi! I'm an outdoor recreation student at WWU and we are doing a hypothetical recreation programming assignment around your community. What would you feel are the needs of recreation in Lynden?

  3. WWU question: Here in Lynden we love TRAILS, TRAILS and More TRAILS. We also like those trails to connect to a park every now and then.

  4. And for you dog lovers the Lynden trails are "PUP" (pick up poop).

  5. We are here visiting from California, and I would like to complement Lynden on their beautiful parks and trails! This is such a beautiful part of the country, and it is good to see a city PLAN to keep open areas in the town for it's citizens to enjoy. Congratulations!

  6. Lynden needs a mosque and temple side by side. And a KKK club house adjacently.

  7. Why isn't someone monitoring the posts and deleting these unhelpful ones!

  8. I'm new to Lynden and I've noticed that there's a lot of walking trails. Is there a way to find out where all the trails are/length of each?

7th Street Park

Proposed Plan:

The 7th Street Park Plan includes three stages of development. The first step will offer a trail that extends the perimeter of the park with benches alongside the trail and picnic tables easily accessible. Future plans will involve the following:

1) Involvement of school groups and interested volunteers to remove invasive blackberry bushes.
2) Development of a birding trail loop with informational signs and a bird survey pamphlet useful for bird identification and on-going tracking purposes
3) Eventual connection to a river dike trail along the Nooksack River
